How To Obtain Fingerprint Records

If you have lived in Canada for a period of time and are applying for a visa, immigration, or employment, you may be requested to provide your fingerprint records. In Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issues fingerprint records, also known as RCMP criminal record checks.

The fingerprint record is a hardcopy certificate with RCMP’s official seal, indicating whether you have a criminal history or not. If you do have a criminal history, all offences will be shown on your fingerprint records.

1. Begin your online application for your RCMP fingerprint records here: RCMP Criminal Background Check Application
2. Obtain a set of fingerprints on the RCMP C216C form. You can visit your local police station or notary office to have your fingerprints taken.
3. Email us 2 pieces of your government-issued IDs and your completed fingerprint form for us to review.
4. Upon our confirmation, mail your original fingerprints to our office for processing.
5. Once we receive your fingerprints, we can process your RCMP fingerprint records. RCMP’s processing time on average is 5 to 10 business days.
6. The issued RCMP fingerprint records will be shipped to your preferred mailing address. A tracking number will be provided.
