Apostille Procedures Are Now In Effect In Canada

Starting January 11th 2024, the previous legalization/authentication process of Canadian public documents were replaced by the new apostille procedures. A document apostilled in Canada can be used in the 125 countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Further embassy and consulate legalizations are no longer needed.

Regardless of the document’s issuing province, The Fingerprint Room Inc. can help you have the document apostilled. The process is simple and most steps can be completed online:

1. Email us a scan or photo of the document you wished to be apostilled. We will take a look at your document and let you know if it can be apostilled in Canada.

   *We may require the original, hardcopy of the document you wished to be apostilled to be mailed to our office.

2. Begin your online application for Document Apostille service here:

3. Upon our confirmation of your document for apostille, mail the original document to our Richmond office for processing.

4. Once we receive your original document, we will begin the apostille process. The processing time for the apostille is about 7-15 business days. Given that the apostille is a new legalization process in Canada, this estimated turnaround time may vary.

5. When we receive your apostilled document back at our office, we will courier the document via UPS international express to your preferred mailing address as indicated on your online application. Shipping time usually takes 4-5 days and a tracking number will be provided.
