If you are applying for a Spanish visa and have lived in Canada for a period of time, you may be requested to submit a Canadian RCMP Police Clearance Certificate that is issued within the past 3 months and have it apostilled and translated into Spanish. The Consulate General of Spain in Toronto updated their Apostille requirements on RCMP Police Clearance Certificates. With the new update, all RCMP Police Clearance Certificates must be apostilled by Global Affairs Canada. The consulate will NOT accept RCMP certificates apostilled by provincial authorities.
Following this change, Global Affairs also updated their processing time for RCMP Police Clearance Certificates specifically. The current estimated turnaround time for RCMP certificates apostille is expedited to about 10 business days (around 2 weeks). However, please note that the processing time may subject to change due to delays.
The Fingerprint Room can help you obtain your Canadian RCMP Police Clearance Certificate for your Spanish Visa, and have the document apostilled and translated.
