If you have lived in Canada for a period of time and is applying for US immigration, visa, green card, etc., you may require a Canadian RCMP criminal record check for “Personal Use”. This is also previously known as a Privacy Act, which is often a requirement for USCIS (Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). This is a specific type of Canadian RCMP criminal record check as the applicant’s fingerprints are searched within database of RCMP National Repository Entire Holdings. Other kinds of RCMP criminal record checks for visa-border crossing, foreign travel or work may be rejected for US immigration purposes as they do not meet Homeland Security’s requirements.

An example of a Canadian RCMP criminal record check certificate for US immigration purposes is below. The document does not show the applicant’s fingerprints, but is nevertheless a fingerprint-based criminal record check. The RCMP certificate will only show the applicant’s name and date of birth.
