Authentication or otherwise known as legalization, from the Colombian Embassy is often required if you have Canadian documents that will be used in Colombia.

Any documents that were issued within Canada can be authenticated. Some examples include:

  • RCMP criminal record check certificate based on fingerprints
  • Criminal record check based on name and date of birth
  • Marriage certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • Citizenship certificate
  • Elementary, Secondary, College and University diplomas or transcripts

Required Documents for Authentication with Consulate General of Colombia

Processing for Authentication with Colombian Embassy

The average processing time is approximately 17 business days. The document will first be authenticated by the Global Affairs Canada. Once completed, Global Affairs Canada will ship the documents to the Colombian Embassy to have it legalized there. After this step is completed, the embassy will return the document to us. We will then arrange courier to ship the document back to you. Tracking number will be provided for the shipment.
