If residing in a country other than Canada, it is possible to get a Certified Canadian Background Check from overseas with us.
To obtain a background check from abroad, the RCMP regulations specify to use the RCMP C-216C form. However, some countries’ police agencies will not use the C-216C form.
For example, countries like Australia (“Queensland Police fingerprinting information”), New Zealand, and United States will not use the C-216C form, and prefer to use their own country’s fingerprint forms. The formats of these forms are similar to the C-216C form (10 fingers rolled on the top two rows, and the 10 finger flats on the bottom) and are acceptable. In China and Japan, the officials will not sign or stamp the form which makes the fingerprint form inadmissible. Contact us for list of places to go in China or go to your local notary public to have your fingerprints notarized. For Japan, we have an office in Tokyo where our staff will take your fingerprint digitally.
Each country has their own specific rules on which forms they use, so it is recommended to research what forms they require to do fingerprinting. Once you have that information, it is also recommended to find out where to get fingerprinted in the country you will be in to get fingerprinted, as the rules differ depending on the country as well.
Some tips to remember:
- Fingerprints must be taken in black ink (India may use blue, China may use red)
- The fingerprint form MUST be signed by the official taking the fingerprints and stamped by their agency on the bottom left corner that says, “fingerprinting agency”.
